8th Saturday

Sayles boxes found in a single landfill receptacle. Sayles boxes are compostable.

Towers of beer cans taped together with duct tape. The creator of these things may have committed them to the landfill because they had tape stuck to them. A better decision is to remove the tape, then recycle the cans separately. We decided to send the cans, with the tape attached, to the recycling facility in the hopes that the cans can still be salvaged.

Pizza boxes belong in the compost.

Mixed recyclables (glass, aluminum, paper, plastic) in the landfill.

7th Saturday

A raw steak. When we found it in the landfill bin, it was three days past the "sell by" date. We were very close to cooking it, but there wasn't enough motivation on the crew.

We had a moment of silence for the life that was lost to produce this meat, then committed it to the compost.
A 5 lb block of cheese. Found in the compost.

Fruit reclaimed from compost and landfill streams.

A bag full of recyclables, found in the landfill.
